Using PennystoveUK

Single Boil ( boils about 1 pint easily, gives about 5 minutes burn )

Place a new, shiny, penny coin over the 3 drain holes in the burner.

Pour meths into the centre of the burner, and allow it to over flow to just fill the outer moat. This is about 25 ml. Don’t worry if meths starts to bubble down through the 6 jet holes

Place pot on potstand over stove and light with a match.

After a minute or so the stove will be hot and meths will begin to run under the penny down into the fuel cup. The 6 burner jets will then fire up around the circumference of the burner.

Extended Cooking with pre-fill ( boil and simmer, gives about 13 minutes burn ) Only use the simmer ring with a pot in position. It acts to keep the burner flames away from the sidewall of the stove reducing the burn rate and also reduces the air supply between the burner and the bottom of the pot.Place a new, shiny, penny coin over the 3 drain holes in the burner.Pour meths into the centre of the burner as before but don’t let it overflow into the outer moat.Slide penny clear of drain holes using a penknife blade or similar, allow meths to drain into fuel cup.Move penny back into position and refill, this time allowing meths to overflow into the outer moat

Place pot on potstand over stove and light with a match

When 6 jets are established, and a boil has been reached, very carefully place the simmer ring inside the burner with the simmer ring taper downwards.

Longer burn times can be achieved, with additional pre-fills

As with all stoves it makes sense to shield from the wind to conserve fuel
